Let's cut a rug

We've not long moved into our (first ever!) new flat and while we've got some main pieces of furniture the rooms still need the extras that make it homely, like rugs. And so, with time on my hands over xmas and lying turgid from too much cheese and mince pies, I launched 'mission rug research', I think I have delved deeper into the world of rugs than anyone really needs to and have found loads I love but can't afford and one that I really really like and can just about stretch the budget to. Here are my top picks of the rug world including the one I've settled on ....

Not so sloppy Giuseppe

woven cord and raffia made a great summertime wedge

heavy beading and a killer heel on Chic Meca

cute soft bows from the new collection

leopard print from one of my favorite blogs
I think every pair of shoes he creates are just the perfect shape. I'm quite fussy when shoe shopping and always want a heel to curve just so, or the proportions to be a certain way, it's often really difficult to find. All of these are on my wish list, I can but dream....

Coming soon: Granada

I'm not long back from a holiday in Granada and still need to sift through the photos and get them up on here. In the meantime here's a tiny taster, wall mosiacs from inside the Alahambra Palace and a pimped out dolorosa (a float with the Virgin Mary). Out of all the floats that passed by this was the only tacky one, which was ironic since it was in the chapel within the palace; a monument to history, serenity, grandeur ....and as it turns out LED lights.

Spotlight: Thornback and Peel

Thornback and Peel have given classic imagery their own twist in their range of iconic prints. Design duo Juliette and Delia get inspiration from fairtytales and victorian wood carvings creating a distinctive realism that they print on to linen, cotton and silk then wrap beautifully in boxes and ribbon. What I really like about them is there passion to keep production in Britain. Their studios are in London, print is sent out to Leamington Spa and their next move into plates and crockery will be done in Staffordshire helping to support the famous ceramics industry in the area. I can't wait to see what they create next!
